The divide in perceived levels of corruption in rich and poor countries remains as sharp as ever, according to the 2007 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), released today by Transparency International, the global coalition against corruption.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Hill of Tara in Co Meath yesterday to form "the world's first giant human harp" photographed from the air. The event was designed to promote the campaign to reroute the M3 motorway.It's good to see numbers getting involved in this.

An interesting article on where the comparison between conflict in Northern Ireland and Israel-Palestine falls down. Mainly in response to comments from Mike Gapes (British Labour Party) drawing a comparison while discussing Britain's approach to the Middle East.
This article is a reasonable summary of the little fight that erupted between David Winer (of RSS fame) and Jason Calacanis. It followed Winer calling the Calacanis presentation 'spam' from the back of the conference room, spreading onto Twitter and later their respective blogs.
A pretty interesting read on the approach that Microsoft may be taking to dealing with FOSS. The article makes reference to the deal with Novell and consequences arising from that as well as talking to legal sources on the Microsoft side and in the EFF.
This is a topic on which I've seen a few articles written about here on Newsvine, The Myth of Airport Security being one that struck a chord as I had flown shortly before that article was published. I had similar experiences on that occasion and others.

A controversial game that is sure to keep English and Irish fans talking until the start of the next championship. Ireland beating England narrowly to take the Triple Crown. Ireland finish second to overall winners France.
Wales, defiant in the face of recent problems off and on-field, played well against the in-form French only to see France score a try in the last ten minutes. France deservedly win the championship being the most consistent throughout the tournament.
